OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of elemene on the radiosensitivity of A549 cells and its possible molecular mechanism. METHODS: Apoptosis of A549 cells was detected by flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy. The effect of double-strand break (DSB) damage repair in A549 cells was evaluated using the neutral comet assay. Protein expression levels were detected using western blotting, and the correlation between protein levels was analyzed. RESULTS: Elemene exhibited a radiosensitizing effect on A549 cells. The level of apoptosis induced by elemene combined with radiation was significantly greater (

Optimal moral-hazard-free reinsurance under extended distortion premium principles

We study an optimal reinsurance problem under a diffusion risk model for an insurer who aims to minimize the probability of lifetime ruin. To rule out moral hazard issues, we only consider moral-hazard-free reinsurance contracts by imposing the incentive compatibility constraint on indemnity functions. The reinsurance premium is calculated under an extended distortion premium principle, in which the distortion function is not necessarily concave. We first show that an optimal reinsurance contract always exists and then derive two sufficient and necessary conditions to characterize it. Due to the presence of the incentive compatibility constraint and the nonconcavity of the distortion, the optimal contract is obtained as a solution to a double obstacle problem. At last, we apply the general result to study three examples and obtain the optimal contract in (semi)closed form

1048-1055Subject to harsh ocean environment, a novel path following control scheme with accurate guidance and high anti-disturbance ability for under actuated surface vehicles is proposed. The innovative work is as follow: (1) Based on the traditional line-of-sight (LOS), a surge-varying LOS (SVLOS) guidance law is designed to achieve double guidance of speed and heading, which enhances the flexibility and precision of the previous LOS; (2) Unknown disturbances are exactly estimated by an exact disturbance observer (EDO), wherein the limitations of bounded and asymptotic observations can be avoided; (3) The EDO-based robust tracking controllers enable accurate disturbance compensation and guided signal tracking in harsh ocean environment. Rigorous theoretical analysis and significant simulation comparison have been done to demonstrate superiority of the EDO-SVLOS scheme

Immune checkpoint blockade for locally advanced or recurrent/metastatic cervical cancer: An update on clinical data

    Get PDF
Immunotherapy has shown great promise in the field of oncology, and recent clinical trials have illustrated that immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) is safe and effective at treating a range of tumor types. Cervical cancer (CC) is the fourth most common malignancy in women. However, first-line treatments for locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) and recurrent/metastatic (R/M) CC have limited efficacy. Thus, it is necessary to explore new treatment approaches. The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) currently recommends pembrolizumab, a programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) monoclonal antibody, as a first line therapy for individuals with R/M CC. This study reviews the progress of ICB therapy for LACC and R/M CC and describes the current status of the combination of ICB therapy and other therapeutic modalities, including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and other immunotherapies. The focus is placed on studies published since 2018 with the aim of highlighting novel CC-specific immunotherapeutic approaches and treatment targets

Controllability of networked multiagent systems based on linearized Turing's model

Turing's model has been widely used to explain how simple, uniform structures can give rise to complex, patterned structures during the development of organisms. However, it is very hard to establish rigorous theoretical results for the dynamic evolution behavior of Turing's model since it is described by nonlinear partial differential equations. We focus on controllability of Turing's model by linearization and spatial discretization. This linearized model is a networked system whose agents are second order linear systems and these agents interact with each other by Laplacian dynamics on a graph. A control signal can be added to agents of choice. Under mild conditions on the parameters of the linearized Turing's model, we prove the equivalence between controllability of the linearized Turing's model and controllability of a Laplace dynamic system with agents of first order dynamics. When the graph is a grid graph or a cylinder grid graph, we then give precisely the minimal number of control nodes and a corresponding control node set such that the Laplace dynamic systems on these graphs with agents of first order dynamics are controllable.Comment: 13 pages, 4 figures, submitted to automatic

Automated Trading Systems Statistical and Machine Learning Methods and Hardware Implementation: A Survey

    Get PDF
Automated trading, which is also known as algorithmic trading, is a method of using a predesigned computer program to submit a large number of trading orders to an exchange. It is substantially a real-time decision-making system which is under the scope of Enterprise Information System (EIS). With the rapid development of telecommunication and computer technology, the mechanisms underlying automated trading systems have become increasingly diversified. Considerable effort has been exerted by both academia and trading firms towards mining potential factors that may generate significantly higher profits. In this paper, we review studies on trading systems built using various methods and empirically evaluate the methods by grouping them into three types: technical analyses, textual analyses and high-frequency trading. Then, we evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each method and assess their future prospects
